A Southern University student tragically passed away after participating in an off-campus fraternity ritual, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Caleb Wilson, a 20-year-old mechanical engineering student, reportedly collapsed during an Omega Psi Phi fraternity ritual at the North Sherwood Forest Community Park in Baton Rouge.
According to sources, Wilson and others were standing in a line as part of the initiation process when he suddenly collapsed.
Friends who were with him immediately took him to a local hospital in the early hours of Thursday morning, but he was unresponsive upon arrival.
Hospital staff pronounced Wilson dead shortly after 3 a.m. and alerted the Baton Rouge Police Department, who launched a death investigation.

The campus community extends condolences to his family, classmates, and loved ones,” the university said. They also confirmed they were cooperating fully with the Baton Rouge Police Department.
