1,800 Covid Infections In India In 24 Hours, Active Cases Surpass 10,000-Mark

According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 1,805 new cases of coronavirus on Monday.

This marks the first time in 134 days that the number of active cases has surpassed 10,000. The daily positivity rate is currently at 3.19%, with a weekly positivity rate of 1.39%.

As of 8am on Monday, the number of active cases stands at 10,300, up from 9,433 the previous day. The death toll has risen to 5,30,837, with six deaths reported within the past 24 hours – one each in Chandigarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, and two reconciled by Kerala.

Overall, the total number of COVID-19 cases in India has reached 4.47 crore (4,47,05,952), according to the latest data.

As per the website of the health ministry, the current active COVID-19 cases in India account for only 0.02% of the total cases, while the national recovery rate stands at 98.79%.

The data shows that 4,41,64,815 individuals have recovered from the disease, and the case fatality rate is 1.19%.

The vaccination drive against COVID-19 continues in the country, and according to the ministry’s website, 220.65 crore doses of the vaccine have been administered to date.
