Townflex is here again as usual, as we bring to you the complete list of winners at the just ended 2021 MOBO Awards that came off days ago.

The MOBO Awards are an annual music award presentation honoring achievements in “music of black origin”, including hip hop, grime, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.

The ceremony was held at the Coventry Building Society Arena as a live show since 2017 as it break for two years in 2018 and 2019 and only a virtual ceremony in 2020.

This years MoBo awards, hosted by Munya Chawawa and Leigh-Anne Pinnock climaxed with live performances by the likes of Ghetts, Pa Salieu, Stefflon Don and Ms Banks, Bree Runway, Potter Payper, Tems, NSG and Enny.

MOBO Awards 2021 winners: British rapper, Ghetts took home the award for Best Male Act award, British-Nigerian rapper, singer Little Simz, Nigeria’s pop star, Wizkid took home two awards, winning the Best international act and Best African music act awards.

  • Best female act: Little Simz
  • Best male act: Ghetts
  • Best newcomer: Central Cee
  • Song of the year: Tion Wayne & Russ Millions – Body (remix feat ArrDee, Bugzy Malone, Buni, Darkoo, E1, Fivio Foreign & ZT)
  • Video of the year: M1llionz – Lagga (directed by Teeeezy C)
  • Best grime act: Skepta
  • Best R&B/soul act: Cleo Sol
  • Best hip-hop act: D Block Europe
  • Best drill act: Central Cee
  • Best international act: Wizkid
  • Best performance in a TV show/film: Michael Ward – Franklyn in Small Axe
  • Best media personality: Chunkz & Yung Filly
  • Best gospel act: Guvna B
  • Best African music act: Wizkid
  • Best reggae act: Shenseea
  • Best jazz act: Sons of Kemet
  • Best producer: Jae5

In other news, Canadian rapper, singer, and actor. Aubrey Drake Graham has withdrawn his nominations for the upcoming 2022 Grammy Awards.

The news which was first published by Variety revealed that their sources said the decision to withdraw was taken by Drake and his management team and the Grammys honored the request.

Drake grabbed nominations into two categories,  his “Certified Lover Boy” was nominated for the Best Rap Album, whiles his song, “Way 2 Sexy” (featuring Future and Young Thug) was nominated for Best Rap Performance.

It is not yet clear as to the reason behind the sudden change of plans for the Canadian rapper, but in a recent update on Grammy’s official website confirmed the news to be true as the update stated that he is removed from the categories he got nominated into.
