The father of the gunman (Thomas Matthew Crooks) who tried to assassinate former United States president, Donald Trump speaks out for the first time after the shooting incident at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Matthew Crooks who was spotted with a masked woman was approached outside a grocery store where they went to get some items by Fox News reporters who wanted to ask him some questions about his son, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks.
The Fox Reporters started by asking “Matthew, why would your son want to kill the president?” a reporter during the interaction, which was recorded.
Well, the reporters wanted responses to their questions but Mathew gave them none, he told them he had “No comment.” Simultaneously, while the masked woman next to him yelled asked them to “Back Off”
“We’re going to release a statement when our legal counsel advises us to do so until then, we have no comment, we just want to try to take care of ourselves right now. So please, just give us our space.” he said to the reporters before beginning to load items into his vehicle.

Investigators are attempting to piece out how Crooks managed to get past security surrounding the Butler Farm Show property, which was the location of Trump’s July 13 rally. About 150 yards from Trump’s speech, he ascended to the roof of an AGR manufacturing facility and fired multiple shots before being assassinated by snipers.
Thomas Crooks still lived with his parents in a middle-class suburb of Pittsburgh at the time of his rally attack in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Additionally, it was previously stated that Crooks’ parents, Matthew and Mary, had called the police a few hours prior to the shooting to report their son’s disappearance and express concern for his well-being. Whether or not they were aware that he was carrying his father’s AR-15 is unknown.
The Pennsylvania Department of State Licensing System Verification Service indicates that Mary Crooks and Matthew Crooks are both licensed professional counselors.
In 2020, Crooks received his diploma from Bethel Park High School. He graduated in May with an associate’s degree in engineering from Allegheny County Community College.
Following his acceptance at the University of Pittsburgh and Robert Morris University, Crooks apparently intended to enroll there.
