A 13-year-old schoolgirl is in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times in an attack that has shocked the community of Hessle, near Hull.
The incident occurred early this morning, around 6:50 AM, when emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a stabbing.
Police have arrested six teenagers—four boys aged 14, 15, 16, and 17, and two girls aged 14 and 15—on suspicion of attempted murder.

All six remain in custody as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the attack.
Detective Superintendent Simon Vickers assured the public that the suspects are believed to have known the victim, which raises concerns about the nature of the incident.
The victim suffered severe wounds to her neck, abdomen, chest, and back.
Local residents who witnessed the aftermath reported seeing police cordoning off the area and conducting thorough searches for evidence.

The road near the A63 has been closed to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
In a statement, DS Vickers acknowledged the community’s apprehension following such a violent incident.
He emphasized that additional police presence will be seen throughout the weekend to provide reassurance.
“The girl remains in hospital in critical condition, and her family are being supported by officers during this difficult time,” he added.

Vickers also expressed gratitude to those who provided assistance to the girl at the scene before emergency services arrived, highlighting the importance of community support in times of crisis.
The police are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward as they continue their investigation.
