Gospel artiste Timileyin Ajayi, who was arrested for the murder of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of culpable homicide.
The 32-year-old was arraigned in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, on Monday morning, January 27, before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court.
Ajayi was charged with one count of culpable homicide, a charge that carries the death penalty under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
His arrest followed the tragic death of Adaidu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who had been serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja before her untimely passing.
The incident took place on January 12 when Adaidu visited Ajayi’s home in the Papalana area of New Karshi in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
It was there that the young woman’s life was brutally cut short.
