Tensions between the U.S. and Canada reached a boiling point during the USA-Canada 4 Nations Face Off hockey game in Montreal on Saturday night.
What was meant to be a thrilling matchup quickly turned chaotic as three fights broke out within a mere nine seconds, leaving fans and players in disbelief.
The physical altercations on the ice were not the only sign of growing hostility. Before the brawls began, the Canadian crowd made their displeasure known by booing during the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
This act of defiance echoed the growing frustration in Canada, largely fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent tariffs on Canadian imports and his remarks suggesting that Canada could eventually become the 51st state.
Adding to the tension was Trump’s frequent mockery of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, referring to him as “Governor Trudeau.”

The prime minister, who was in attendance at the game, watched as the situation on the ice quickly escalated. The brawls were captured on viral videos, showcasing the high emotions from both teams.
This incident marks the second time in recent weeks that the Canadian crowd has booed the U.S. National Anthem.
A similar protest occurred earlier this month during a game between the Ottawa Senators and the Minnesota Wild, signaling how deeply political tensions are resonating with Canadian sports fans.
The fights and the booing are just the latest manifestation of the strained relationship between the two neighboring nations.
