The Kremlin has weighed in on recent remarks made by US President Donald Trump, in which he expressed being “very angry” and “pissed off” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump’s comments, which were directed at Putin’s stance on Ukraine, have raised eyebrows both in Washington and Moscow.
Trump’s frustration stemmed from Putin’s suggestion to establish a “temporary administration” in Ukraine, a move that would involve removing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky from office while the two nations work toward a peace deal.
This idea, however, has not been received positively in the West, with Trump voicing his displeasure during a public statement.
On Monday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded to Trump’s remarks, clarifying that the president’s words had been paraphrased and not quoted directly.
He acknowledged that “several various statements” had been made on the topic but did not go into further specifics.

Despite the tension over Trump’s remarks, Peskov emphasized that Moscow remains focused on rebuilding its strained relationship with Washington.
He also reiterated that Russia continues to work with the United States on efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“We continue to work with the American side, first of all, on building our bilateral relations, which suffered enormous damage during the previous administration,” Peskov told reporters during a regular conference call.
“We are also working on implementing some ideas related to the Ukrainian settlement. The work is underway, so far there are no specifics that we would have to inform you about.”
When asked about the possibility of a phone call between President Putin and President Trump this week, Peskov stated that while it is not yet on Putin’s schedule, it could be organized quickly if needed.
