Wisconsin case

A pregnant mother of two in Wisconsin says she was violently attacked outside her workplace by a woman who had been stalking her over a relationship dispute, along with an unidentified man, leaving her hospitalized and emotionally shaken as police continue their search for suspects.

Gheonna Lacy, a caregiver at a group home in Racine, told WISN that the assault happened around 7 a.m. last Thursday as she stepped outside to warm up her car after finishing her shift. According to Lacy, the attackers approached her wearing hoods and armed with a metal baseball bat.

“They just immediately knocked me to the ground,” Lacy recounted. “Swinging the bat, stomping me with their feet.”

Lacy said she believes the attack was motivated by an ongoing relationship dispute with the female suspect, whom she claims had been stalking her prior to the incident. During the assault, Lacy said the woman allegedly focused on harming her unborn child.

According to Lacy, the woman was “stating to kill the baby, to get the baby,” as Lacy tried to shield her stomach while being beaten.

Ring camera footage according to WISN appears to show two individuals sneaking up on Lacy moments before the attack. The footage supports her account that the assault came without warning.

“As a pregnant person, you feel like you’re safe, like no one is going to touch you,” Lacy said. “It replays in my head every time I close my eyes.”

A GoFundMe campaign launched by Lacy’s employer describes her as a dedicated caregiver who provides “daily care, compassion, and support to other people’s loved ones.” The fundraiser confirms that Lacy is currently pregnant with her third child and had just finished work when the attack occurred.

“As she walked outside toward her vehicle, one male and one female were waiting for her and brutally attacked her,” the GoFundMe states. “She was beaten with a metal baseball bat and repeatedly kicked and stomped on — including blows to her stomach, face, and entire body.”

Following the assault, Lacy was taken to the hospital, where she and her unborn child were closely monitored by medical staff. The fundraiser adds that the incident has left her “physically injured, emotionally shaken, and unable to work at this time.”

Racine police confirmed that an active investigation is underway. As of Sunday, no arrests had been made, and authorities said the suspects are still being sought.
