Vance Lee wisconsin

A tense and prolonged Wisconsin hostage standoff ended late March 28 after a 33-year-old man accused of threatening to kill his parents surrendered to police following hours of armed resistance inside a Milwaukee home.

Authorities in Milwaukee say Vance Lee is facing multiple felony charges, including endangering safety with a dangerous weapon and possession of firearms as a convicted felon, after allegedly holding his parents hostage and warning he “would kill everyone.”

The incident unfolded over two days, March 27 and 28, inside a residence near 68th Street and West Brentwood Avenue. According to a criminal complaint, Lee allegedly terrorized his parents by descending the stairs armed with both a rifle and handgun, threatening to shoot them.

At one point during the ordeal, he reportedly contacted his brother and declared, “We are all dying today.”

Fearing for their lives, Lee’s parents barricaded themselves in a bedroom while their son continued making threats.
Investigators say he warned them he “would kill everyone and hide in the basement ready for anything if police arrived.” Despite the escalating danger, the parents told authorities they still loved their son but could no longer manage the situation.

Police were dispatched to the home around 8:45 a.m. on March 28. What followed was a dramatic standoff that stretched nearly 14 hours. Officers repeatedly ordered Lee to surrender, but he refused, allegedly fortifying the house and even firing a shotgun from an upper level to disable a police drone.

As the situation intensified, law enforcement deployed tactical measures, including tear gas, while armored vehicles surrounded the property. Images from local media showed a heavy police presence as negotiations continued into the evening.

The standoff finally ended around 10:20 p.m. when Lee exited the home and surrendered without further incident.

A subsequent search of the residence revealed a significant cache of weapons, including a shotgun, four rifles, five handguns, body armor, and approximately 800 rounds of ammunition, according to authorities.

Investigators also noted that Lee allegedly admitted to recent alcohol use and meth consumption prior to the confrontation.

He was taken into custody and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. Court records indicate he is scheduled to appear before a judge on April 7.
