A 29-year-old Wisconsin man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he carried out a violent machete attack on his ex-girlfriend and her new partner without saying a word.
Authorities in Green Bay arrested David Mairena-Garcia hours after the early morning assault, which left both victims with serious injuries. The attack happened around 5:15 a.m. on Monday inside the woman’s home, according to the Green Bay Police Department.
Officers arrived to find a 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man suffering from severe wounds. Emergency responders treated them at the scene before transporting both to a hospital. Their current conditions have not been publicly updated.
Investigators say Mairena-Garcia, who once dated the woman and shares a child with her, entered the home using his own key. What followed, according to the criminal complaint, was swift and brutal.
The woman told police that Mairena-Garcia “did not say anything, he just went in and started cutting them and attacking them with the machete.”
Police reports state that the suspect struck the man multiple times, targeting his shoulder, forearm, and leg. He then allegedly turned to his ex-girlfriend, beating her and causing injuries to her head along with cuts to her hand and neck.

The situation escalated further outside the home. Authorities say Mairena-Garcia chased the male victim down the street while still armed before fleeing in a vehicle.
Law enforcement later tracked that vehicle using Flock camera technology. Officers stopped him during a traffic stop around 8:35 a.m., roughly three hours after the attack.
During questioning, Mairena-Garcia reportedly admitted his motive. He told police that after seeing his “wife” in bed with another man, he became enraged and “just want[ed] to kill them.”
The woman had previously warned police that Mairena-Garcia “had already made several death threats to her by text message and in person,” raising concerns about a pattern of escalating behavior.
Prosecutors have charged Mairena-Garcia with two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, both enhanced due to the use of a deadly weapon. One count also includes a domestic violence enhancement. Additional charges include aggravated battery, armed burglary, and bail jumping.
A judge set his bond at $750,000. He remains in custody at the Brown County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 19.
