Chita Agwu Johnson Blasts Traffic Beggers

The popular Nollywood actress Chita Agwu Johnson have asked traffic beggers to stop asking for help from people – insisting that they should be ignored whenever they do so.

The notorious award-winning film producer dropped the statement during an interview. According to the TV personality, street beggars are “terrorists” disguising themselves as those in need hence are out to cause havoc.

Do note that street begging is a prevalent occurrence in Nigeria and this is widely common in all parts of the country. This may be attributed to the nation’s high poverty rate, parental upbringing, the gap between the different social classes, inflation rate, poor governance amongst other factors.

Nonetheless, irrespective of the reason behind its growing trend, street begging has become so popular in the country. In short, this act seems to be one of the flourishing movements in the country and it is common both in the Northern and Southern provinces.

According to the statement made by Chita, the action of some of these people begging in the street have caused damage to many people’s property. She also further stressed that when some of these people beg and are declined of their wants/requests, they mostly resort to violence.

Besides, the popular TV personality explained that many of these beggars will soak people’s cars with soap and water; especially on the window screen. She further added that they bring embarrassment by doing that and hence should not be allowed to continue.

Moreover, the famous movie producer has further encouraged people to ignore them and mind their business instead of giving solicited attention. However, this is a rare call made by a Nigerian celebrity on the disturbing act and it might possibly build up to something in the future if more voices are raised.

Furthermore, as at the time of filing the report, there was no clarity on the situation behind the reason why she made the statement. Nevertheless, the message has gone viral and drawn reactions from many Nigerians across the different social media platforms.
