It has been confirmed and is now official as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Chris Hughton as the new head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars.
GFA confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday (February 12) that they had opted to settle for the 64-year-old Irish-Ghanaian strategist as the new Black Stars head coach.
The appointment is in line with the vision of the GFA to continue with the project of building a formidable squad that started with Otto Addo in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament.
The position has been vacant since Otto Addo’s departure following Ghana’s humiliating elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup competition in Qatar.
Mr. Hughton has been the Technical Advisor of the Black Stars for the past twelve months.
The GFA has also decided to maintain Assistant Coaches George Boateng and Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
The three coaches were part of the technical team for the World Cup in Qatar.
According to the statement published on GFA’s official website, more details in regard to the duration of the contract and terms of engagement would be announced in due course.
