Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has revealed that midfielder Thomas Partey is set to be sidelined for “a few weeks” due to a muscle injury sustained on Monday, October 23.
The Ghanaian international had been on the road to recovery from a groin injury that kept him out of action for 30 days and caused him to miss six games.
Partey made a brief appearance, playing 16 minutes in the Gunners’ hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester City.
Following his return, he represented the Black Stars in two international matches against the USA and Mexico during the break but was named an unused substitute in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
It was anticipated that the 30-year-old midfielder would be in the starting lineup for Arsenal’s clash with Sevilla in the Champions League. However, a last-minute injury setback prevented him from participating in the match.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s impressive 5-0 victory over Sheffield United on Saturday, Arteta confirmed the unfortunate news, saying, “He’s got a muscle injury and we are expecting him to be out for a few weeks.
We don’t really know the extent of it, and he has more tests today, but he picked up that injury in a training session with the last kick of the ball before Sevilla, so very unfortunate.”
This setback is a blow to Arsenal as they will have to navigate a series of fixtures without the services of Thomas Partey, who has made four appearances for the team this season.
The extent of the injury and the specific timeframe for his return will become clearer following further medical assessments.
In Partey’s absence, Arsenal will need to rely on other midfield options to step up and maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League and Champions League.
