Atlanta rapper Young Scooter, celebrated for his impact on the hip-hop scene, tragically passed away at the age of 39 on his birthday.
Young Scooter, who was signed to Future and Waka Flocka Flame, died on Friday, March 28, 2025. His cause of death hasn’t been established as of this publication.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Young Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, was transported by emergency services to Atlanta’s Grady Marcus Trauma Center on Friday.
Reports from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution revealed that Young Scooter’s death followed a series of events involving law enforcement. it was established that the police responded to a home on William Nye Drive SE after receiving reports of gunfire and a woman allegedly being dragged back inside.
Upon arrival, the officers encountered resistance. Atlanta Police Lieutenant Andrew Smith stated that a male briefly opened the door before shutting it. As police established a perimeter, two men attempted to flee. One returned to the house, while the other, identified as Scooter, injured his leg after jumping two fences during his escape.

Officers found him injured on the other side of a fence. Lieutenant Smith clarified that the injury was self-sustained and not caused by police. The rapper was later taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Son Reacts with Heartbreak and Anger
Scooter’s son, Kenneth Bailey Jr., shared an emotional response to his father’s death on social media. In a series of Instagram Stories, he expressed grief and frustration with the Atlanta Police Department, accusing them of dishonesty regarding his father’s condition.
“F— APD,” he wrote, revealing his disbelief and pain. “I’m broken into a million pieces. [I don’t] wish dis pain on nobody.” He described his father as a good man and vowed to take care of his siblings, promising to honor his father’s legacy.
Bailey Jr. thanked friends, family, and the rap community for their support, though he expressed his struggle to cope with the widespread media coverage and misinformation. “Got lame a– blogs lying and s—. [I don’t] even wanna see nunna dis s—,” he wrote.
Born Kenneth Edward Bailey, Scooter developed a strong presence in Atlanta rap throughout his career, becoming one of the first artists signed to Future’s Freebandz label and later Waka Flocka Flame’s Brick Squad Monopoly under Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records.
He culled a following based on his steady mixtape output, putting out records with Gucci Mane and Zaytoven, and earned his first Billboard Hot 100 appearance with a feature on Future and Juice Wrld’s “Jet Lag” in 2018.
