2023 BET Hip Hop Awards: Black Sherif Grabs Nomination

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper, singer and songwriter, Black Sherif earns nomination for the forthcoming 2023 Hip Hop Awards.

The organizers of the annually held award scheme officially released the complete list of nominees on Friday, September 8th. The Best International Flow category was introduced by the BET Awards organizers back in 2019, and Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie was the first musical artiste, to win the award.

The Ghanaian singer and rapper, Black Sherif found himself nominated in the Best International Flow category at 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards will that is scheduled to come off in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, and will premiere on BET one week later, on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

In the Best International Flow category, Black sherif from Ghana found himself nominated alongside AKA (South Africa), Central Cee (UK), Gazo (France), J Hus (UK), K.O (South Africa), Major Rd (Brazil), Ninho (France), Sampa The Great (Zambia) and Tasha and Tracie (Brazil).

This which is a great news for Black Sherif and Ghana as a country, comes just few days after Blacko won big at the 2023 Headies Awards in Los Angeles.

“This year’s ‘BET Hip Hop Awards will mark the culmination of our year-long celebration of hip hop’s storied creation and the art form’s sonic and cultural expansion,” Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy for BET, shared in a statement.

The likes of 21 Savage, Burna Boy, Cardi B, Drake, GloRilla, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Uzi Vert are all nominated for Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, while the roster of young artists up for Best Breakthrough Hip-Hop Artist includes: Armani White, Central Cee, Doechii, Finesse2Tymes, Ice Spice, Kaliii, Lola Brooke, and Sexyy Redd.

While the likes of Lback Sherif (Ghana), AKA (South Africa), Central Cee (UK), Gazo (France), J Hus (UK), K.O (South Africa), Major Rd (Brazil), Ninho (France), Sampa The Great (Zambia) and Tasha and Tracie (Brazil) were nominated into the Best International Flow category.

Across 17 categories, Cardi B and 21 Savage garnered the most nominations with 12 each, trailed by Drake, who is up for nine awards. Burna Boy and DJ Khaled round out the top five with an impressive seven nods each. J. Cole scores six nods. Coi Leray, GloRilla, and Jay-Z are tied at five nods each.
