Ghana faced a disappointing defeat on matchday two of the 2026 World Cup African qualifiers in Moroni on Tuesday, November 21, with Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton attributing the loss to a lack of sharpness in front of goal.

Despite dominating for a significant part of the game, Ghana couldn’t convert their chances, leading to a 1-0 defeat against Comoros.

Hughton, the Irish manager, expressed his frustration after the match, acknowledging Comoros for their victory but emphasizing that Ghana was the superior team throughout the 90 minutes.

Blame Game: Hughton Attributes Black Stars' Defeat to Missed Chances

Hughton lamented a poor goal conceded by Ghana and highlighted the team’s inability to capitalize on the opportunities created.

According to him, the match was not a case of Comoros winning comfortably; rather, Ghana failed to seal the deal by converting their chances into goals.

The defeat leaves the Black Stars trailing in Group I, unable to move to the top despite having three points after two rounds of games.

With attention now turning to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January 2024 in Ivory Coast, Ghana faces the challenge of regrouping and addressing their scoring woes.
