Blow for Ten Hag as Robin Koch Snubs Manchester United Offer After Rabiot and Kim

Reports indicate that Leeds United defender Robin Koch has rejected interest from Manchester United and Newcastle United and is considering a return to Germany.

The Red Devils have faced setbacks in their pursuit of new signings this summer.

Initially, defender Kim Min-jae had agreed to join Manchester United but subsequently declined the move and is now on the verge of signing with Bayern Munich.

In midfield, the club made a contract offer to Adrien Rabiot, who was set to become a free agent, but he opted to extend his stay at Juventus for another year.

Manchester United had also expressed interest in signing Koch, but according to German outlet Kicker, the player has turned down both Manchester United and Newcastle United and is now deciding between Bundesliga clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.

According to reports, Leeds United defender Robin Koch has decided to reject Manchester United’s interest and instead opt for a return to Germany.

In terms of other potential signings, Manchester United has faced some setbacks during the current summer transfer window, as they prepare for Erik ten Hag’s second season as manager at Old Trafford.

One such setback involved defender Kim Min-jae, who initially agreed to join Manchester United.

However, Min-jae subsequently turned down the move and appears to be heading towards a signing with Bayern Munich.

Manchester United revisited their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot, who was set to become a free agent at the beginning of July.

The club made a contract offer to the French midfielder, but he has ultimately decided to sign a one-year contract extension with Juventus, opting to stay with the Italian club.

Another player of interest for the Red Devils was Robin Koch, as reported by Sky Sports earlier this month. Talks had taken place regarding a potential surprise move for the defender.

However, according to an update from German outlet Kicker, relayed by Sport Witness, Manchester United has received further disappointing news.

Koch has rejected offers from both Manchester United and Newcastle United and is now deliberating between Bundesliga clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite being praised as “outstanding” in the media last season, Robin Koch has decided against joining Manchester United or Newcastle United.

He is seeking a leadership role at his next club, which was not deemed feasible at Old Trafford or St James’ Park. Additionally, he wants to concentrate on reclaiming a place in the German national team.

Manchester United, however, hasn’t been deterred in their pursuit of new signings during the summer transfer window.

Despite the ongoing takeover saga, the club has been linked with several players, and they might have better luck securing deals for Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

A £55 million offer for Mount was initially rejected, but negotiations have resumed between Manchester United and Chelsea.

They have now reached an agreement on a package worth £60 million.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Onana, who could potentially become the first-choice goalkeeper over David de Gea.

The Inter Milan goalkeeper’s price tag is estimated to be around €50 million.

If both Mount and Onana join the club, Manchester United’s summer spending could quickly reach £100 million.

Unfortunately, it seems that Koch will not be joining Leeds United from Manchester United, so manager Erik ten Hag and his team may need to explore other options for strengthening their defensive lineup.
