Bruno Fernandes inspired Manchester United’s win

At Old Trafford, against relegation-threatened Sheffield United, Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, led from the front to ensure that another wild performance ended in win.

Erik ten Hag’s team was looking at an embarrassing defeat against a team that had only won three games this season after the visitors had taken the lead twice.

However, nine minutes from time, Fernandes put Manchester United ahead with a 25-yard drive after levelling the score from the penalty spot.

Four minutes later, the Portuguese set up Rasmus Hojlund for his first goal since February, propelling his team into sixth place and winning him accolades from his boss.

Ten Hag stated, “He demonstrated his leadership.”

“He is in excellent form and made an effort to uplift the team. When we place him in the proper situation, he makes the appropriate choices.

He is a prolific creator who can also score, help, and take important shots. His attitude and performance have us thrilled.”

For Manchester United, Fernandes has now tallied seven goals and two assists in the last five games.

During that time, there have been 27 goals in all. In each of those contests, Manchester United has given up and scored at least twice.

It is remarkable from an entertainment standpoint. But there’s no organisation at all, and one can only wonder what Jason Wilcox, the new technical director, thought of it while seeing from the Old Trafford directors’ box for the first time since his appointment was confirmed last week.

Ten Hag was furious with the media the day before the match, calling the coverage of his club’s FA Cup semi-final triumph over Coventry on penalties “embarrassing” and “a disgrace”; nonetheless, his team was unable to make an impact on the pitch.

Ben Brereton Diaz gave Sheffield United a two-goal lead in the second half and Jayden Bogle gave them their first since February.

The home team first levelled the score thanks to a brilliant header from Harry Maguire, but Fernandes soon seized over.
