American actor, singer, musician, and children’s author, Bob McGrath has been confirmed dead.
The actor, whose legal name is Robert Emmett McGrath, died on Sunday, December 4, 2022, in his home in New Jersey.
The actor was 90 years old when he died, and his family announced his death on his official Facebook page, saying he died ‘peacefully at home surrounded by family.’
“Our father, Bob McGrath, passed away today. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.” the Facebook post read.
Bob McGrath is best known for playing the the original human character Bob Johnson on the long-running educational television series Sesame Street.
McGrath is survived by his wife, Ann McGrath, who is 89, his five children and eight grandchildren.
Friends, colleagues in the industry as well as fans poured out their heart felt tribute on hearing about the passing away of Bob.
American singer, actress, Elizabeth Robinson Peete whose father was part of the original Sesame Street cast, shared sweet memories as a child on set with McGrath also took to Twitter to share some memories with Bob.
Pete wrote on Twitter; “I first met Bob McGrath in 1969 when he & my Dad Matt starred on Sesame Street. He was the nicest, sweetest, kindest man. My brother and I got to be in this scene with him… Rest in peace , Bob McGrath. You were so loved all over the world Say hello to my pops 💚💛💔😢😢😢”.

Bob McGrath Biography
McGrath was born on June 13, 1932 in Ottawa, Illinois. McGrath studied music at the University of Michigan and, later, the Manhattan School of Music. McGrath married his wife, Ann Logan Sperry, in 1958.
