A young boyfriend is wondering if he’s “overreacting” after his girlfriend of just two weeks pressured him to move in together, leaving him uncertain about the future of their relationship.
The 20-year-old man shared his dilemma on Reddit’s “Am I Overreacting?” forum, seeking advice after his girlfriend’s request made him uncomfortable.
According to the boyfriend, things had been going well between him and his 22-year-old girlfriend until she suddenly asked if she could move in with him.
She argued that since they spend so much time together and “just know” they’re meant to be, it would make sense to take the next step. However, the boyfriend felt it was too soon and expressed his discomfort.
“She says she ‘just knows’ we’re meant to be, and that since we already spend so much time together, it makes sense,” he wrote in his post.
“But moving in this early is way too fast, so I told her I wasn’t comfortable with it yet.”
His response apparently didn’t go over well. The girlfriend grew upset, accusing him of not taking their relationship seriously. This reaction led the boyfriend to doubt himself, asking if he was in fact overreacting.

As the situation escalated, the girlfriend continued to press him, saying she needed someone who was “all in.”
After standing firm on his stance, he began to suspect that her request might have more to do with her living situation than their relationship.
“I’d rather find out now than later,” he said, revealing that he was seriously considering ending things.
The post received nearly 200 comments, with most Redditors agreeing that his concerns were valid. “That’s a BIG red flag,” one user wrote, advising the man to cut his losses early.
Others echoed this sentiment, suggesting that the girlfriend might be using him for a better living situation or simply moving too fast.
In a follow-up comment, the boyfriend stated he wouldn’t break up just because of this incident, but he was setting firm boundaries moving forward.
“If she keeps pushing, then yeah, I might have to rethink things,” he added.
