The couple, who were once Hollywood’s golden pair, have spent years fighting over custody, finances, and the division of their assets.

According to Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, this step marks the end of one chapter in a drawn-out legal saga that began when Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time, she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Simon said in a statement.

He added that while the process has been exhausting for Jolie, she feels relief that this part is finally behind her.

Pitt and Jolie first met in 2005 while co-starring in the film Mr. & Mrs. Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston, while Jolie was a single mother to adopted son Maddox.

Over the years, their relationship blossomed, and the couple built a large, blended family.

However, their marriage took a sharp turn in 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce.

The couple’s split became even more contentious following a private plane incident just days before Jolie filed for divorce.

In the incident, which was investigated by the FBI and DCFS, Pitt allegedly had a physical altercation with one of the children and with Jolie herself. He denied the accusations, and both agencies cleared him of wrongdoing.

Despite the lengthy legal battles, including ongoing custody negotiations and a dispute over their shared business ventures, including the Miraval Wines business, the couple has now reached a settlement.

The couple, who were declared legally single in 2019, are finally bringing an end to their eight-year separation process, although the legal saga surrounding their divorce continues in some respects.
