George Darko, a veteran highlife performer from Ghana who is known for several successful songs, has passed away.

The well-known highlife musician passed away on March 20, 2024, a Wednesday. His cause of death is still a mystery.

His passing occurs shortly after that of K.K. Kabobo, another legendary figure in highlife, who passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

The late musician Nana Apem Darko I, a stool name for the Tufuhene of Akropong, was well-known for his work with Akoo Te Brofo until his passing.

He has been active in the music industry since the late 1960s and has performed as a guitarist, singer, composer, and songwriter.

George Darko, who was born on January 12, 1951, was well-known in Ghanaian music circles throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. His songs are among the most classic and timeless highlife compositions.

George Darko is a producer, songwriter, and arranger who has collaborated with several seasoned highlife performers. With his debut success, “Ako Te Brofo,” he is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of burger-highlife.

Ben Brako, C.K. Mann, Daddy Lumba, Ernest Nana Acheampong, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Pat Thomas, and others are some of his contemporaries.

The song is regularly played at parties and funerals throughout Ghana, and it is still well-liked by Ghanaians both domestically and outside.
