Video: Check out Majid Michel’s brilliant argument on why Ghana does not require an E-levy

If you’re a regular listener of United Showbiz on United television, you’ve probably noticed that Saturday’s show was one of the most engaging thus far, with talks centered on the country’s state issues.

Beautiful Yvonne Nelson filled in for Nana Ama Mcbrown, the normal host, and I must say, she did a fantastic job.

Diamond Michelle, also known as Michy, Arnold Asamoah, Majid Michelle, and Lawrence were among the guests on the show.

As expected, the show did not shy away from tackling the contentious e-levy, which has resulted in brawls in Parliament between members of the ruling and minority parties.

All of the visitors voiced their thoughts on the topic.

While A Plus opposed the e-levy, he also stated that Ghanaians will eventually have no choice but to pay it.

Bulldog believes that the e-levy is unneeded and that it should be referred to as a “foolish levy” rather than an e-levy because it would not benefit Ghanaians.

Majid Michelle, an actor, and evangelist submitted an opinion that I found particularly compelling.

While others debated whether it was good or bad, he endeavored to explain how the e-levy, as well as the issues that the country and, by extension, the continent, face, could be avoided.

Majid’s Argument

If we have to take all the countries in the world and measure them by way of resources under the ground, where would the United Kingdom and America be?

So now they have to divert the means of transactions from minerals to paper and they give their paper value.

Now your gold is useless because you need a dollar.

Would you eat the gold in your mouth? No, but you want the dollar to buy food.

So they have twisted the economics of the whole thing.

And taken away the power from the resources in your ground and given it to the dollar and have promoted the dollar as the world’s most valuable currency and used that currency to buy your gold and take it to their country and now we are poor.

Furthermore, if we are a land of rich resources, where is the negotiation between our leaders and the industrial companies because our leaders still have the “imperialist and subordinate” mentality?

If we are a land of rich resources, in every negotiation or discussion, there should be a level playing field to get equal outcomes to develop ourselves”.

He also stated that Ghanaian politicians must adopt the idea that it is no longer about a slave and a master, and that all sorts of talks should gain equal rewards for the country.
