Cole Palmer had a significant impact on Chelsea’s Premier League victory over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

In the 57th minute, Palmer scored a goal by deftly deflecting the ball off his foot and then hammering it low and hard past custodian Martin Dubravka.

Palmer took advantage of Sven Botman’s clumsy clearing to break the deadlock early on, and Nicolas Jackson skillfully deflected Palmer’s strike into the bottom corner for his second goal in as many league games.

Palmer gave Chelsea the lead back after Aleksander Isak’s strong drive from the edge of the area gave Newcastle hope just before halftime.

Mykhailo Mudryk, the substitute, took the ball from teammate Conor Gallagher and dashed past Newcastle’s defence, evading Dubravka and finishing at a close angle.

At the 90-minute mark, Jacob Murphy scored a thunderous finish into the top corner, but Mauricio Pochettino’s team held on for their 11th victory of the season.

With a game remaining against Newcastle, who are a point and a place above them, Chelsea is still in 11th place in the standings.

Fabian Schar missed the mark with Newcastle’s first attempt, but Djordje Petrovic, the home goalie, remained largely trouble-free for the majority of the game.

Isak’s goal, which came after 43 minutes, was the visitors’ first on target opportunity during a first half that saw little to no scoring from them.

Eddie Howe has already lost one player to injury at this point when Anthony Gordon was substituted out after being challenged by Marc Cucurella.

Gordon was replaced by Murphy, whose spectacular finish in the dying moments brought the score closer than it actually appeared.
