Controversy arises as Mohammed Kudus is left out of Goal of the Season nominees

Following the publication of the Goal of the Season Award candidates, the English Premier League’s 2023–2024 season has seen yet another round of controversy.

Mohammed Kudus, a midfielder for Ghana, was not included in the 10-man roster and was not included in the list of nominees.

Kudus plays for West Ham. The former Ajax Amsterdam star was left off the short list even though he scored an incredible overhead kick against Manchester City on the last day of the season.

The 23-year-old scored another outstanding goal earlier in the season in West Ham’s 3-2 victory over Brentford with a scissor kick.

Many supporters are upset with the nomination process because it dissatisfies them because only winners of the Goal of the Month Awards from the just concluded season and a particularly good goal in May are eligible to win the trophy.

The list of the best strikes of May included Moises Caicedo’s long-range goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth.

Kudus was therefore passed over in favour of previous Goal of the Month Award winners from this season, such as Bruno Fernandes’ goal against Burnley, which was chosen as the finest goal of September.
