Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr contract includes a clause that would allow him to move to Newcastle if the club made the Champions League.

The 37-year-old former Manchester United player joined the Saudi Arabian team last week after being unsuccessful to reach an agreement with a European club.

As a result, he signed a contract to play with Al Nassr through 2025, agreeing to an astounding £173 million annual salary.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr contract includes a clause that would allow him to move to Newcastle if the club made the Champions League.

But he might still have some time left at Europe’s top table.

A publication from Marca claims that Ronaldo has a clause in his Al Nassr contract that would allow him to join Eddie Howe’s Newcastle on loan should they make the Champions League.

This is due to the Middle Eastern link with the North East outfit owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.

Newcastle’s £300 million takeover in 2021 made them the richest club in the world.

And it means they can now afford a player with Ronaldo’s star power.

Newcastle, though, may possibly be able to provide Champions League football in addition to the cash inducement considering their outstanding domestic record thus far this season.

Howe’s team is currently third in the Premier League standings with 34 points from 17 games.

Ronaldo meanwhile, is motivated to keep up his position as the most prolific Champions League scorer in history.

The legendary Real Madrid player scored 140 goals in the top competition in Europe.

He presently leads longtime adversary Lionel Messi, who is still competing for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, by 11 goals.

The end of last year saw an abrupt end to Ronaldo’s second spell at Manchester United due to an explosive interview with Piers Morgan.
