Darren Bent backs Chelsea Romelu Lukaku to finish ahead of Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo this season

Former English professional footballer Darren Bent believes Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will score more goals than Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo this 2021-2022 season.

Chelsea Striker Romelu Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge from Italian giants Inter Milan in a £97.5 million deal last month. The Belgium international joined Chelsea 2011-2014 where he made 10 appearance without any goal, he later joined Manchester United from Everton for 2017-2019 season where he scored 28 goals in 66 matches before joining Italian giants Inter Milan.

The former Ballon D’Or winner Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 appearance for Manchester United in his first spell at United before joining Real Madrid 2009-2018. The Portuguese star won ten trophies including a Champion league trophy during his stay at United.

Manchester United’s striker finished five goals ahead of Lukaku  as the top scorer in Serie A last season, but the Arsenal fan Darren Bent believes the Chelsea striker Lukaku will come as the top scorer in the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old striker is set to make his first appearance after joining the club last month when they host Newcastle on Saturday.
on the other hand, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku now have one goal in two appearance for the Blues.

‘I think when you look at Chelsea and you look at the goals they get, I think a lot of them will go through Lukaku, he told talkSPORT.

‘Where as yes, we know how good Ronaldo is, but Mason Greenwood is going to chip in with some, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford when he comes back, Cavani. See he [Ronaldo] might not even play [all the games], but if Lukaku is fit he’s playing.

‘You look at Lukaku, Chelsea brought him for a purpose in terms of he has to play. That was the missing piece of the jigsaw for me and he’s already 1-0 up [in goals vs Ronaldo], he’s already got a head start.’
