Deadly Explosion in Southgate, Michigan: Woman Killed, Man Severely Injured

A devastating explosion early Thursday morning destroyed a home in Southgate, Michigan, leaving one woman dead and a man severely injured.

The blast, which occurred before dawn, caused extensive damage to the house and sent debris flying across the neighborhood, waking residents in the area.

Southgate police Det. Sgt. Nathan Mosczynski confirmed the severity of the injuries, noting that both victims had extensive burns and internal trauma.

“I thought it was thunder at first,” said Arturo Ramirez, a nearby resident. “Then I saw a crack form on my ceiling.” The blast’s force was so strong that it shook homes and left many residents shaken.

Authorities are treating the explosion as a gas-related incident, although the exact cause of the blast remains under investigation. Local firefighters, police, and emergency responders worked quickly to search the scene for any further survivors or hazards.

This tragic event has left the tight-knit community in Southgate reeling, as residents continue to process the shocking explosion.
