‘very few films’ left in him: Denzel Washington Hints at Possible Retirement

Denzel Washington, a legendary actor, has made remarks that his legendary Hollywood career may be coming to an end.

Over the course of an incredible forty-year career, the 69-year-old star has won two Oscars and enthralled audiences with memorable performances in movies like Malcolm X, Training Day, and Glory.

However, his latest revelation suggests that his upcoming role in Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated Gladiator II could be one of his final appearances on the big screen.

The impact that Denzel Washington has had on Hollywood is quite remarkable. He has portrayed a wide variety of characters over the years, demonstrating his unmatched talent and commitment to the role.

Despite his achievements, Denzel looks ready to break away from acting. In a recent interview with Deadline, he mentioned that Gladiator II could be one of his final film credits.

“There are very few films left for me to make that I’m interested in, and I have to be inspired by the filmmaker,” Denzel explained. His decision to join the cast of Gladiator II was driven by his admiration for Ridley Scott and the filmmaker’s vision for the sequel.

“We had a great go-round the first go-round and here we are. He’s engaged. He’s excited about life and his next film. He’s an inspiration,” Denzel said.

Denzel Washington admits that his passion in acting has changed as he evaluates his future job. At the American Black Film Festival in June, he expressed a desire to pursue possibilities behind the camera. “The things that are going on for me professionally behind the camera are as important to me now as in front of the camera,” he shared with a panel in Florida. Denzel also expressed his interest in pursuing other roles within the film industry, particularly directing.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, Denzel mentioned that he is in the “yellow leaf” of his career, a phase where he is more selective about the projects he takes on.

“To be quite honest, looking to do other things. So as far as acting, it’s gonna have to be an extreme challenge for me to be interested,” he explained. While he remains open to the possibility of future acting roles, it is clear that Denzel is ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities.
