American rapper and mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs says he takes full responsibility and that he is sorry in an apology video following the release of a 2016 security video aired by CNN which saw him abusing his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel.
As published earlier here, in the video footage that commences with Cassie toting a bag down the corridor of the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles, as she approaches the elevators. It also showed the music mogul running out of a hotel room in a towel and chasing Ventura toward the elevator.
He grabs her by the back of the neck and throws her on the floor, kicks her, shoves her and drags her by her sweatshirt. Later in the footage, he returns to kick her again, and then throws an object from a nearby table at her. Watch Video Here.
Sean Diddy Combs Apologizes:
Well, taking to social media on Sunday, May 19, 2024, the musician rendered an apology in a video via his platforms following the incident.
According to Sean, it has been very tough reflecting in the darkest times of his life but sometimes one got to do it. He said that he takes full responsibility for his actions in the video.
The rapper who added that he f**cked up said he was disgusted when he did what he did and he still remains disgusted now
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was fucked up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable.” Diddy said on Instagram.
“I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.” He added.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, in a statement on Friday, acknowledged awareness of the video, deeming the imagery profoundly distressing and challenging to observe. However, they clarified their inability to pursue charges due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for assault.
Ventura’s legal representative, Douglas H. Wigdor, issued a statement affirming, “The harrowing video serves to further validate Mr. Combs’ unsettling and predatory actions. Words cannot encapsulate the bravery and resilience demonstrated by Ms. Ventura in exposing this misconduct.”
Combs and Ventura maintained a romantic relationship for over a decade. Last November, she accused the rapper of habitual rape and physical abuse during their association. The lawsuit, implicating Combs’ label, Bad Boy Records, and Sony Music, alleged that Ventura was ensnared in a cycle of abuse, violence, and exploitation by Combs. It further asserted that Diddy subjected her to repeated instances of physical assault.
Following the filing, they reached a settlement; however, Combs has since faced a succession of lawsuits this year alleging rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking. He vehemently refutes all accusations. In March, his residences in Miami and Los Angeles were subjected to raids by Homeland Security.
