Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is now facing serious federal sex crime charges will remain in custody as bail has been denied.
A federal judge in New York ordered Combs to remain in detention without bail following his appearance in court on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024. The charges against the Bad Boy Records owner, which were disclosed in a federal indictment, include sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution.
Combs’ legal team proposed a $50 million bail package in an attempt to secure his release, but the judge rejected it. The package contained a $50,000 bond, but it was insufficient to convince the court in Combs’ favor.
At the hearing, the prosecution presented disturbing fresh details. They said that on Monday, September 16th, when Combs was arrested, drugs were found in the hotel room. The combination of the serious offenses and the alleged drug presence strengthened the prosecution’s case for keeping Combs behind bars.
The 54-year-old rapper and producer showed up in front of the judge and entered a not guilty plea. He preserved his cool while the judge’s ruling, which denied his request for bail, was read out.
