Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson turns down offer to host 2022 Emmy Awards

Information gathered by Townflex has it that, American actor Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock has declined an offer made by Primetime, the organizers of  Emmy Awards to host the 2022 edition of the awards.

The actor who is born with his legal name Dwayne Douglas Johnson has also dished out his reason for not accepting the offer to be the host of the forthcoming awards ceremony in an interview with ET.

“It was just schedule. I was really, truly honored when they came to me and asked, but it was just a scheduling thing,” adding that “That’s all. That’s really what it comes down to.” he told ET.

According to other rumours, Chris Rock was also approached by Primetime TV to be a co-host of the show on the same day Dwayne was approached but he also turned down the offer.

However, the comedian also reportedly passed up the offer this week, with a source telling Entertainment Tonight Rock is preoccupied with his “Ego Death World Tour” and upcoming Netflix comedy special.

Organizers of the awards announced the nominations for the upcoming 74th edition of the Emmy Awards on Tuesday morning, July 12, 2022.

HBO’s drama series Succession leads the nominations list for the 2022 Emmy Awards, with a total of 25 categories. followed by Apple’s Ted Lasso and HBO’s The White Lotus, which each earned 20.

Other series with double-digit noms include Hacks (17 noms), Only Murders in the Building (17), Euphoria (16), Barry (14), Dopesick (14), Severance (14), Squid Game (14), Ozark (13), Stranger Things (13), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (12) and Pam & Tommy (10).

The awards is however scheduled to come off on September 12th, starting at 8 p.m.

As at the time of this post, the organizers are yet to find a host for the show.
