- Elon Musk offers $1 billion to Wikipedia
- Yes $1 Billion, But There Is One Condition
- Musk Wants Wikipedia To Change Name To Dickipedia
The world’s richest man, Elon Musk who is well-known for, well, candidly expressing himself on X (formerly Twitter) is in the news again, he sparks new controversy by making headlines with his latest post on the platform, offering $1 billion to Wikipedia.
In an unexpected proposition, Musk, driven by a quest for precision, has put forth an intriguing proposal. He is prepared to make a substantial donation of $1 billion to the online encyclopedia, on one condition – Wikipedia must embrace the unconventional moniker ‘Dickipedia.’

The billionaire’s stipulation came with a further condition that the name change must remain in effect for a minimum of a year. The problem is not changing the name but in the name that he wants Wikipedia to change to.
Musk had made multiple posts earlier Sunday criticizing the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit that hosts Wikipedia, for asking for money.
It all started after the X (formerly Twitter) owner, Elon Musk shared a screenshot of Wikipedia’s homepage which read “Wikipedia is not for sale” and “a personal appeal from Jimmy Wales”.
“Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn’t needed to operate Wikipedia.
“You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know.” he captioned the post.
I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia https://t.co/wxoHQdRICy
