Not only is it the day Frank Lampard is not only expected to take charge but it’s also the final day of the January transfer window and all deals must be completed by 11pm this evening and Everton will have hopes of strengthening their squad.

Midfield could be the priority with Abdoulaye Doucoure, Fabian Delph and Tom Davies all injured.

Donny van de Beek appears poised to become Lampard’s first signing. The Dutchman will be joining the Blues on loan, pending confirmation after he rejected Crystal Palace offer.

Van de Beek has struggled for game time at Old Trafford since joining from Ajax in the summer of 2020. He has played just 579 Premier League minutes across two seasons — the equivalent of fewer than seven full matches.

Everton have made signing a central midfielder their focus for the remainder of the transfer window.
