Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Jack Butland, was urgently rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after experiencing a serious internal bleed.
The 31-year-old, now playing for Rangers, was preparing for the highly anticipated Old Firm derby against Celtic this Thursday, but those plans have been shattered due to his health scare.
Butland, who has been a key figure in Rangers’ lineup since joining from Crystal Palace in 2023, spent the night under medical supervision.
Reports indicate that he was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday morning, offering some relief to fans and teammates.
However, despite his release, Butland will not feature in the upcoming match at Ibrox Stadium, with the club confirming that the injury has ruled him out of the derby.

The England international’s career has seen him transition from a promising youth talent at Birmingham City to stints with Stoke City, Crystal Palace, and a brief loan at Manchester United.
His move to Rangers marked a fresh chapter in his career, where he’s been a standout performer, making 87 appearances across all competitions and playing an instrumental role in securing the Scottish League Cup last season.
While the news of Butland’s internal bleeding is certainly concerning, the good news is that he has been discharged and is on the path to recovery.
Rangers fans will now eagerly await updates on his condition, hoping for a speedy return to action.
Butland’s absence from Thursday’s showdown with Celtic is a big blow for Rangers, but his health remains the top priority as the club hopes to see their goalkeeper back on the field soon.
