The cause of death for late rapper, Fatman Scoop has been revealed.
The cause comes nearly a month after the rapper born by his legal name Isaac Freeman III passed away. He died after collapsing during a concert in Connecticut on Friday night (Aug. 30). He was 56.

The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that the later rapper died of “hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.”
Hypertensive and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease are two closely related heart conditions that primarily affect the blood vessels and the heart’s function.
Hypertensive Cardiovascular Disease occurs when high blood pressure damages the heart and blood vessels, leading to complications like heart failure. Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease happens when fatty deposits build up in the arteries, narrowing them and restricting blood flow, which can cause heart attacks or strokes.
Both conditions are closely related, as hypertension can worsen atherosclerosis. Managing blood pressure and leading a healthy lifestyle are key to preventing these issues.
According to TMZ, Freeman was playing at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut, when he suffered an unexpected medical issue. A fan-captured video shared on X (previously known as Twitter) shows Fatman Scoop collapsing during a performance, creating instant worry in the audience.

Rescue workers raced to the stage and began chest compressions behind the DJ booth. Despite their efforts, Freeman was taken to a local hospital and eventually pronounced dead. On Saturday morning, August 31st, his family reported his departure on Instagram.
“It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we share news of the passing of the legendary and iconic Fatman Scoop,” the heartfelt message begins. “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life.”
The post continued, “Fatman Scoop was known to the world as the undisputed voice of the club. His music made us dance and embrace life with positivity. His joy was infectious and the generosity he extended to all will be deeply missed but never forgotten.”
