Nigeria vs Ghana Clash: FIFA official dies after stadium violence

FIFA/CAF Doping Control Officer, Joseph Kabungo in charge of the decisive Ghana and Nigeria’s Qatar 2022 play-off has been confirmed dead.

The second leg of the 2022 world cup qualifiers Play Off between Nigeria and Ghana came off on Tuesday night, March 29th, 2022, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja , Nigeria.

The game ended with the scoreline of 1-1 which favoured the Ghana Black Stars coming out as victors to qualify for the upcoming world cup all thanks to away goal.

The game later on after Nigeria getting defeated by Ghana ended up in violence which later led to demise of FIFA/CAF Doping Control Officer, Joseph Kabungo.

Joseph was a Zambian, and was also Zambia’s national team doctor during the time they won the African Cup of Nations back in 2022.

According to reports, he died as a result of Heart Attack which he suffered following the stampede at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday night after Nigeria got defeated by Ghana.

News of his death still remains unclear as there have been some reports flying in that he was attacked by fans of Nigeria during the outbreak of the violence which erupted the stadium.

However, there is no official statement released yet from CAF in regards to Joseph’s death.

Joseph has been on CAF’s official medical team since 2013. R.I.P to him, and we at Townflex extends our sincerest condolences to his family.
