Ghanaian crowds at the Legon City Mall as Khebab-a-thon enters its third day

Atinga Nsobila Joel, the CEO of God’s Time Khebab, has started an endeavor to break the record for the longest barbecue marathon, which appears to be a fresh twist on the ‘thon’ trend in Ghana.

April 11, 2024, the day of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, marked the start of the much awaited journey, which is scheduled to end on April 14, 2024.

Joel is determined to break Jan Greeff’s (USA & South Africa) current record of 80 hours while creating an incredible 10,000 sticks of kebab at Accra’s Legon City Mall. He is aiming for an incredible 90 hours.

 According to viral videos, Joel’s initiative has drawn a lot of Ghanaians, who have gathered to the mall to watch the event and take advantage of the free sticks of kebab.

In an interview prior to the attempt, Joel discussed his reasons for doing so, saying that the kebab business is a family tradition that he inherited from his father, who provided for his education from elementary school to university.

He wants to dispel the myth that only the ignorant work in the kebab industry by holding this marathon.

Joel’s attempt continues a string of Ghanaian attempts to break world records, including those of Afua Asantewaa, Chef Faila, Kaakyire Agyemang, and Adu Sarfowaa, who are awaiting formal recognition as record holders, and Afua Asantewaa, whose prior attempts were failed.
