Uruguay took advantage of Ayew’s poor penalty kick, which had little chance of beating Sergio Rochet in goal.

Five minutes later, Suarez—the country of Ghana’s No.1 public enemy—blasted a goal-bound effort that deflected into De Arrascaeta’s path, setting up an easy opening score before he volleyed home a second only six minutes later to provide a two-goal cushion.

Their chances of making it to the round of 16 were dashed by their loss to the Uruguayans, which also caused them to finish last in the group.

However, they continued to celebrate as South Korea’s late victory over Portugal eliminated Uruguay.
