Michelle Trachtenberg, beloved for her roles in “Gossip Girl” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” has tragically passed away at the age of 39.
The actress was found by her mother on Wednesday, February 26, around 8 a.m. at One Columbus Place, a luxury apartment building in Manhattan’s Central Park South.
Sources close to the situation told the New York Post that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant. However, her official cause of death has not been confirmed at this time.
Born in New York City on October 11, 1985, Trachtenberg began her career at the young age of three, initially appearing in commercials.
By 10, she had landed her first starring role in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy, playing the title character alongside Rosie O’Donnell.

Her big break came when she joined the cast of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in its fifth season as Dawn Summers, the younger sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy. She remained on the series until it ended in 2003.
Trachtenberg’s career continued to soar in the 2000s, and she found further success on the hit teen drama Gossip Girl, where she played the character Georgina Sparks from 2007 to 2012.
She also starred in films like Eurotrip (2004) and Ice Princess (2005), cementing her status as a rising star.
Trachtenberg’s unexpected passing has left her fans heartbroken, and she will be remembered for her incredible talent and her unforgettable roles in iconic television series and films.
