Antoine Griezmann, a forward for Atletico Madrid, has stated that he wants to compete for France in the 2016 Olympics in Paris.

Griezmann is anticipated to be a star for France at Euro 2024 before the Games, which take place from July 26 to August 11.

“I will do everything to participate in the Paris Games,” Griezmann told Le Monde. “Having the Games in Paris is something exceptional.”

The team squads are built on under-23 players in accordance with Olympic regulations, but they may have three players older than that.

Griezmann, 32, doesn’t think his body will suffer from competing in consecutive international competitions.

The all-time leading scorer for Atlético remarked, “I know my body.” “We have top-level physios and there is no reason to worry.”

“I will speak to the [Atlético] management in due time, to see if they will let me go.” Griezmann continued afterwards.

Griezmann, a French World Cup winner in 2018, also discussed the likelihood that Kylian Mbappé, a colleague from Les Bleus, will compete in La Liga the following year.

According to ESPN sources, Mbappé has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will not be extending his contract, which expires this summer.

Real Madrid has long been interested in the French striker. On Monday, sources told ESPN that although a deal has not yet been finalised, Los Blancos are in talks with Mbappé.

“He [Mbappé] will get a good reception in Spain and I will be happy to play in the Madrid derby against him,” Griezmann stated.
