I have strong belief that Ghana will perform well against Egypt – Jordan Ayew

Jordan Ayew, a forward from Ghana, thinks the Black Stars can defeat Egypt as they get ready to play each other in Group B of the 2023 AFCON.

With a disheartening 2-1 loss to Cape Verde in their opening match, Chris Hughton’s team had a poor start to the competition.

Egypt failed to impress either, and only needed a late penalty from superstar Mohamed Salah to force a draw with Mozambique, who were absolute underdogs.

Ayew thinks the Black Stars will play well against the Pharaohs, despite the fact that they are the favourites going into their match against Ghana on Thursday, January 18.

“The first game, we didn’t concentrate for 90 minutes and that’s what cost us the game,” the 32-year-old said at a pre-match press conference, as quoted by 3Sports.

“The most important thing for us is to come back and stay focused. We have to stay aggressive and we’ll be fine. I have total belief in players and staff.

“I’m really confident tomorrow [Thursday] will be a really good day for Ghana

Ahead of the Black Stars’ pivotal 2023 AFCON match against Egypt, a large number of Ghanaians in the Ivory Coast turned out to pray for the team.

A video that Pulse took Pellasco, a fan reporter from Ghana, captured several Ghanaians publicly praying for the success of the national team.
