Isaac Dogboe loses to unbeaten Nick Ball in WBC featherweight title eliminator

By Majesty 2 Min Read

In their WBC featherweight title eliminator, undefeated featherweight Nick Ball defeated Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe by unanimous decision, putting an end to Dogboe’s hopes of winning the title.

Ball’s aggressive and unrelenting style of fighting overshadowed Dogboe throughout the twelve-round bout, which was held at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Dogboe had some memorable moments against Ball, such as a counterleft hook in the ninth round that briefly stunned the Ghanaian fighter, but he was unable to prevail against the younger opponent on a regular basis. Ball won handily on the judges’ scorecards thanks to his strategy of outworking Dogboe and keeping a fast pace.

Dogboe’s attempts to rally in the fight’s 12th and final round were unsuccessful, and Ball was unanimously declared the winner by judges Mark Lyson (119-108), Kevin Parker (118-109), and Kieran McCann (116-111).

Dogboe had lost his WBO featherweight title match in April to Robeisy Ramirez, so this was his second straight loss.

Dogboe’s chances of winning a title are now in jeopardy after this loss, and he will need to refocus and plan for more chances in the fiercely competitive featherweight class. In the meantime, Nick Ball’s thrilling victory puts him in the running for the title and confirms his status as a rising talent in the featherweight division.
