Israel has launched airstrikes against military targets in Iran, escalating tensions and raising concerns of a potential regional war.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the strikes targeted missile and drone manufacturing sites, as well as aerial defense systems across various provinces in Iran.
Iranian officials reported limited damage and claimed that two soldiers were killed in the counteraction.
The airstrikes, which involved multiple waves and dozens of fighter jets, are seen as retaliation for Iran’s missile attack on Israel earlier this month, which involved approximately 180 ballistic missiles.
This attack was described by Tehran as support for its ally Hezbollah and a response to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in July.

The U.S. did not participate in the airstrikes but reportedly coordinated with Israel to ensure minimal civilian harm, framing the operation as a necessary self-defense measure.
Senior U.S. officials described the strikes as extensive and precise.
While Iran has vowed to respond to the aggression, its military leadership hinted that retaliation might be limited if the Israeli attacks were deemed contained and did not cause significant casualties.
There is growing concern about miscalculations leading to a broader conflict, especially given Israel’s ongoing military engagements in Gaza and Lebanon against Iranian-backed groups.
