Ghanaian actor, farmer, and politician have proposed a brilliant solution to the high cost of rent in Ghana.
Normally as many of you are aware, the renting system in Ghana is a bit hard, as Landlords (house owners) in Ghana usually take money for two years of rent from tenants.
This issue has been one of the topics which have been on the lips of many pleading with rent control to intervene so landlords can be able to reduce the period of two-year deposit to a lesser period in other to ease the heavy financial burden on tenants.
Well, John Dumelo has finally reacted to this issue and has suggested a brilliant solution to help reduce the high cost of rent in the country.
The actor cum Politician took to his official and verified social media accounts on Friday, March 4, 2022, and sharing his view, John suggested that landlords instead of the usual 2-years rent deposit should rather take 5 months.
According to him, it will be best if the rents are taken for five months from their tenants after which they take it on a monthly basis.
John again in his post added that should anything happen to the property due to a fault of the tenant, the landlords can use part of the 5 Months rent deposit to fix it, and also if the tenant misses one monthly payment, they deduct from the deposit.
This post by the actor has caused mixed reactions on social media as many jump to the comment session of his post and lauded him for his brilliant suggestions while other also disagreed with him.
John Dumelo wrote;
Rent solution:Let landlords take 5 mths deposit first.Then they can receive mthly rent from the tenant. If a’thng happens to the property due to the fault of the tenant, they use part of the deposit to fix it. If the tenant misses one mthly payment, they deduct from the deposit.
