Following the most recent El Trafico, a supporter of Los Angeles Football Club is said to have harassed Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil on the basis of his race.

Los Angeles Football Club and Los Angeles Galaxy played a derby match that Paintsil played the full time, with the Galaxy losing 2-1.
