Following his first goal in the Major League Soccer (MLS), Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has had a fantastic start to his career. He was previously a player for KRC Genk.
Paintsil scored in the California Derby, sometimes known as the Cali Clasico, which saw Los Angeles Galaxy defeat San Jose Earthquakes 3-1.
The 26-year-old scored in the 18th minute, set up a goal for Devan Joveljic in the 43rd minute, and then finished in the 48th minute to seal the victory.

After winning a penalty kick for Galaxy in his first MLS match, Paintsil recorded his first assist for Galaxy. Paintsil is a player with the Black Stars. Galaxy and Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, drew 1-1.
Paintsil described the performances against San Jose as the “perfect clasico” in his post-match reaction on his X (formerly Twitter) profile.
Paintsil played for Ghana’s Black Stars at the 2023 AFCON before joining LA Galaxy.
