After the season, Jurgen Klopp will depart from Liverpool.
The 56-year-old Klopp announced his decision in a video posted on Friday morning on Liverpool’s social media platforms. In an interview with the club’s media, he claims to have informed the team of his choice in November.
The Merseyside team has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup since the German head coach joined Liverpool in 2015.
“I know that hearing this information for the first time can be shocking for many people, but I can definitely explain it, or at least try to,” Klopp remarked.
“I adore everything about this team, the staff, the city, our supporters, and this club in general. My favourite things are all together. I adore everything. However, the fact that I am still going with this choice indicates to you how certain I am that it is the right one.
The fact is, I’m, how shall I put it, exhausted. Naturally, I have no issues at all right now. I have known for a while that I will eventually need to make an announcement, but for now, everything is perfect. I am aware that I am unable to complete the task repeatedly.
“The respect and love I had for you grew over the years we spent together, the time we spent together, and the things we experienced together, and the truth is the least I owe you,” the speaker said.
At the end of the current campaign, Vitor Matos, the elite development coach, and Pepijn Lijnders, Klopp’s deputy managers, will also depart. Lijnders is “aiming to pursue his own career in management,” according to a statement from Liverpool.
Klopp continued, “I already told the club in November.” “I have to clarify a little bit. While my work on the touchline and in training sessions may be what the public sees, the bulk of events revolve around these kinds of activities. That implies that you essentially prepare the following season as soon as the current one ends.
“I was shocked by the realisation that I might not be here then anymore” as we sat there discussing possible signings, the upcoming summer camp, and where we could go.
