Harry Kane of Bayern Munich scored a league-high 31 goals

Harry Kane of Bayern Munich scored a league-high 31 goals on Saturday, and Jamal Musiala added two more as the team destroyed Darmstadt 98 5-2. This put the champions within seven points of leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

In first-half stoppage time, Kane gave Bayern, who will play Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinals next month, a 2-1 lead. This brings his league total to 31, more than any other player has scored in their first Bundesliga season.

Between Musiala’s two goals, the England captain, who cost the Bundesliga the highest money at €100 million, scored a personal best for the league.

However, he was substituted out in the 81st minute due to an ankle twist sustained by sliding into the post and becoming entangled in the sidenetting.

“He stumbled, fell into the net, and twisted his ankle,” stated Thomas Tuchel, the coach of Bayern. “He is currently using ice to chill it. A diagnosis has not yet been made. We must wait and watch, and perhaps this is only a frightening time.”

England plays Brazil on March 23 and Belgium three days later as they get ready for Euro 2024 in Germany in June.

Overall, we’re pleased with our well-earned victory. We never stopped creating opportunities, and we deserved the goals we scored,” stated Tuchel.

“We have a great environment and are training well. It has been a terrific week. After defeating Lazio [in the Champions League] and Mainz [last week], we are delighted to carry on our winning streak,” declared the coach, who will step down at the end of the campaign following a dismal start to the campaign.

With the victory, Bayern moved up to second position with 60 points, seven points ahead of Leverkusen, who play at Freiburg on Sunday.

Although the visitors had the better of play from the beginning, Darmstadt took the lead in the 28th minute when Tim Skarke finished off a swift break that caught Bayern off guard.

After being selected for the Germany squad for friendlies later in March, teenaged Aleksandar Pavlovic dribbled past three opponents, stormed into the box, and found Kane, who passed to Musiala to complete the move in the 36th minute, meaning they did not have to wait long for an equaliser.

After that, in stoppage time, Kane completed their comeback with a diving header, but just before halftime, Oscar Wilhelmsson of Darmstadt nearly gave Bayern another.

They weren’t done yet, though, as Germany international Musiala, in incredible form, put the game to bed in the 64th minute with a spectacular solo run for his 10th league goal.

Mathys Tel and substitute Serge Gnabry both scored before Wilhelmsson added another goal for Darmstadt, who later struck the woodwork once more.
